December 1. 1845–

Miss Barrett presents her compliments to Dr C Bathurst Woodman [1] & encloses the autograph which he did her the honour of asking for. [2] Also she begs to apologize for not more immediately replying to his courteous letter–

1. We have been unable to identify this individual.

2. EBB enclosed stanza IV from “Human Life’s Mystery,” which first appeared in Poems (1850). She entitled the autograph: “A Stanza from a Lyric called ‘Life’”; see Reconstruction, D362.
