As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 19, 202.

Casa Tolomei–

Sunday– [late July] [1853] [1]

My dear Mrs Story,

On Tuesday then! In the meantime I will send our Penini to you with the greatest pleasure this evening.

I return Mr Tallmadge’s letter because we read it in Florence– There are other letters from the same hand, I am told, but these we have not seen yet. How curious the statement is! And from no visionary man, Mr Kinney assured me. I am anxious to get as much information as possible from Mr Story–

Most truly yours

Elizabeth Barrett Browning–

Mr Lytton’s address–

Villa Brichieri

Bellosguardo

Firenze

Publication: None traced.

Manuscript: Armstrong Browning Library.

1. Year provided by reference to the return address. “Late July” suggested by the formal greeting and closing, which would indicate an early stage in EBB’s relationship with Mrs. Story.
