Thursday morning. Mr. Whittier dropped down this morning with L.L. and Miss Dowdell (a young teacher from Amesbury). The cicada is singing outside—the blowing breeze is delicious. Jamie is down stairs writing & enjoying it. I am reading Warton’s Spenser.
