My dearest Ba

Would you deign to read this little letter as a pledge of my affection to you; I should be glad if your genius would allow me a little of your pœtic taste, but as the muse turns her back upon poor me, and as I believe you know I try to do it as well as I can, perhaps you may excuse very dull prose and let me offer my humble wishes as well as I am able, that you may be the happiest of the happy! I hope on your next birthday I shall have more time, and more skill, to tell you how dear you are to Henrietta.
