Dear Miss Barrett,
Am I not a beauty for a compliment?– I had a glimpse it was a beauty of a Compliment when I was writing but I know you would see what I meant, which was nothing but a bit of imagination; there is something so original in a couple of Geniuses corresponding, becoming acquainted, knowing each other thoroughly & yet never seeing each other, that I revelled in the Idea beyond expression– [1]
You must take my manuscript as I wrote it—hurriedly—& without revision—if there be any thing you ought not to see—I had not time to supervise– [2]

2. After reading the first portion of Haydon’s manuscript, EBB spoke of “an unmeasured word or two” (letter 1119) and the tone of letter 1139 suggests that she found some parts objectionable.
