Dear Miss Blagden, we cant go to you on tuesday evening—just one word to say that! Will you forgive us, & let it be for another day? There is an engagement for wednesday, [2] —but remember, we have a great reach of time before us.

I receive your second of letters on ending this. Oh no, you are wrong in your suspicions, I am very sorry to say. I am simply worked to death, being now in an incipient hope of resurrection. The stream of morning visitors is very overwhelming. As for you, you are not a visitor ever, but a friend. Could you come & have tea with us on friday evening,—or on saturday? Choose either– Robert is not at home or would send his love. Do write me a word to name friday or saturday, & think of me as your affectionate
