My dear Sherman,

Have the goodness to thank Mr Bennett very sincerely for the pleasure I have derived from both his volumes, and to say how sensible I am of his kindness in providing me with them.

I suppose the rainy dark season of which to-day gives us a taste, and a bitter one,—will soon drive you back to winter quarters, as it will assuredly encourage me in the better cultivation of sociality—good fellowship and coal-fires coming in together. We shall be delighted, all of us here, to see as much of you and yours as possible– And, with our united best regards, pray remember me, my dear Sherman, as
