I wrote a letter to you yesterday, & you will hear in it how I do not go till the 17th or 20th & the why.

For these apples, how I thank you—& for the basket which will always be full of thoughts of you .. better fruit even than the apples!– May God bless you—both of you.

1. Dating suggested by EBB’s reference to leaving (i.e., for Italy) on the 17th or 20th.” Both days were mentioned as possible departure dates in letter 2057. By letter 2062, the later date was ruled out.
