I can only thank you for giving us an opportunity of expressing in this slight manner our deep affection & respect for the memory of a very dear friend. [3]

May we give you the trouble of applying to our publishers Messrs Chapman (Piccadilly) who have received instructions to pay the money of our subscription?

2. Anne Susanna (“Susan”) Horner (1816–1900), daughter of Leonard Horner (1785–1864) and his wife, Anne Susanna (née Lloyd, 1786–1862).

3. After the death of Anna Jameson, in March 1860, Susan Horner spearheaded an appeal to commission John Gibson to make a posthumous bust of her friend. The bust and its plinth (executed by William Theed) are now in the National Portrait Gallery, London.
