Thursday Morng [Postmark: 22 June 1843]

Dear Miss Barrett

I was at Miller’s this morng—and saw the 25 copies waiting for your order—the written one I sent for you to sign. The sight tempted my virtue, and still more, that of the ‘Miller and his Men’. [1] In other words nearly all the Third Edition is gone, and crowds still ‘demanding’.

Yours truly

R.H.H.

Address, on integral page: Miss E. B. Barrett / 50 Wimpole St / Cavendish Sq.

Publication: None traced.

1. The title of a popular melodrama (1813) by Isaac Pocock (1782–1835).
