Dear E.B.B–

You are, I know, an excellently impatient person. I like that sometimes—it argues an interest in a thing. Therefore I tell you that I signed an agreement with the publishers to complete this work (2 vols of 320 pages each) by the 14th of December. But I made them add “if possible.” [2]
