My dear cousin, I am always teazing you. And I cant return these books of Milnes without asking for others––so that there is no end of me. Can you conveniently lend me Sartor Resartus & Hero Worship? [2]

1. Dated by EBB’s request for the loan of Carlyle’s works, needed in connection with the paper Horne had asked her to write in letter 1469. The following Thursday was the 28th.

2. Sartor Resartus, originally published in Fraser’s Magazine in 1833–34, was issued as a separate volume in 1836 (Boston) and 1838 (London). Carlyle’s six lectures on Heroes, Hero-Worship and the Heroic in History were published in 1840.
