2. The general nature of this note precludes a more specific dating. RB’s friendly association with Marston dates from as early as 1842; by 1844, it was close enough for RB to give copies of Paracelsus and Sordello to him (see Reconstruction, C434 and C568).
3. Part of a line cut horizontally in half at the bottom of the first page.
4. The manuscript consists of a single leaf (two pages), three-fourths of which is missing.
