Dear E.B.B.

I return your proof– The more I read your poem—the more I am impressed by it– Thou audacious success! who would have tried these things but my insolent perverse E.B.B. and who else would so have succeeded– It is in the spirit of love that I petition against two of the Stanzas—I don’t like “fangs” even ferocious fangs. Nor “blood”—nor curses overmuch– They disturb the tone of feeling—

I wonder whether you would trust any spare revises you may have into my hands from six o Clock tomorrow—Wednesday Evg till 12. or Thursday Morning. That Canticle of the Morning Star haunts me–

—By the bye—I wish you had not got the “last time—and pastime”—In haste—God bless you.
