Miss Barrett presents her compliments to Dr Mackenzie, & is of course willing to give him any information which he may think necessary for the purposes of his work. [1]
The only works she acknowledges & which have appeared with her name & won any attention from the public, are “The Seraphim & other poems” published in 1838,—and “Poems” in two volumes, which have just appeared: and she wd consider herself under obligation to Dr Mackenzie, if he made no mention of the bald & stiff translation of the Prometheus of Æschylus & another of her youthful sins, which she keeps locked from circulation in a wardrobe– Of the two works which she acknowledges, the ‘Seraphim’ has not reached the second edition yet—: but an American edition of the “Poems” in two volumes, 1844, is in the course of publication at New York.
