Wednesday evening. [14 May 1845] [1]

I write one line dear Mr Horne, just to say that I have sent, to Miss M. Gillies’s care in Mortimer Street, the proof of the ‘carnival in Cologne,’ [2] which Mr Colburn has sent to me with a request for it to be corrected & returned as soon as possible .. I have sent his note, with the proof & m∙s——& now write to apprize you, in order that no delay may take place.

I am delighted at our success .. at last. He is apologetic as you will see.
