My dear Warburton,

I seem not to care for the misfortune of being unable to see Ireland with you as you propose, in the extreme gratification at your having proposed it, and so! I dare say my company would have given you pleasure after a fashion—for I conjecture that your pleasure usually reaches you reflected by those on whom you have first bestowed it– I go to Italy, in all probability at the end of September, and have an engagement (conditional on my accepting any) to spend a week elsewhere—but such little business as I can boast, will keep me here most likely.
