Darling,

You had better I think bring Dr Macarthy [2] or somebody with you to see Baby. He has had another attack, decidedly worse in character, & though he is now asleep, yet it may return, & we ought to know what to do at once– Dont be frightened– You know I lose my head—but really it is best that you shd bring some one–

1. Date provided by reference to letter 3010, in which EBB tells Arabella of Pen’s attack and the sending of this note to RB as having occurred “two nights after I wrote last to you.” EBB’s previous letter to Arabella is dated [18 February 1852].

2. Daniel Joseph MacCarthy (d. 1886, aged 69), Irish-born physician, studied for his profession at the Faculté de Médicine de Paris, earning his degree there in 1844. He is listed in the Brownings’ address book of this period (AB-3) at 33 Rue de la Madeleine.
