Pray forgive my finding myself unable to profit by your kind appointment this morning. I went out with my wife, & miscalculating the time which a little shopping takes, returned too late for the great pleasure I had anticipated.

Have the goodness to offer my best compliments to Mrs Mackenzie (who, I trust, enjoys the fineness of the day) and to believe me,
