My dear Mrs Streatfield I come in from my drive and find Robert “no where”, so I must explain straightway for myself. Our friends Mr & Mrs Martin, friends of the Hedleys, were coming to us tonight– It is their last night in Paris– The Hedleys wishing to have part of them too, desire us all in a body to adjourn to Rue Astorg– Will you accede? In that case we will call for you .. that is, if Robert ever comes home again, which is’nt clear to me. You see the Hedleys make claim, on the ground of having a room large enough for five! & we cant quite do the same for ours.

Understand—there is to be no party at the Hedleys– If you dont say ‘no’, we will call for you at a quarter past seven– Let me anyway & always be your affectionate
