300. EBB to Julia Martin
As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 2, 133.
Hope End.
Thusday Evg [ca. May 1828] [1]
My dear Mrs Martin,
Mama commissions me to return you her affectionate thanks for the kindness of your note, and to give you as good an account of her as I can. I wish it were in my power to say every thing that, I know, you would like to hear; but she certainly is not better tho’ not worse, than she was, when you paid her your kind visit yesterday. If a decision respecting medical advice were to depend on my feeling and judgement, no delay should take place in procuring it. At any rate, in a day or two, should she not be better, a recourse must be had to medical advice. I write in a great hurry, & can only say that you shall certainly hear either from me or our dear invalid, before you return to Colwal. [2] We hope this return may not be delayed long,—& with our kindest regards & thanks, believe me dear Mrs Martin
Most sincerely yours
E B Barrett.
Address, on integral page: Mrs Martin.
