My dear Madam,
Your kind enquiries are rendered almost useless (except as a mark of your flattering interest in our welfare) by Mamas being so far restored to her usual strength as to be enabled to come down stairs this evening, which she anticipates with much pleasure. I am desired to give you many thanks for your many attentions, from her, and with our united best regards to Mrs Griffith, & yourself, believe me, my dear Madam,

1. Eliza Peyton (1788-1861), wife of Nicholson Peyton, was the only surviving daughter of Mrs. Griffith. Her home, Barton Court, was 1½ miles from Hope End, on the road leading to Malvern.
2. Dated by reference to Mary Moulton-Barrett’s improvement. In the following letter EBB told Boyd of having intended to visit him, and she would have had such an intention only when her mother was doing well.
