Thank you, my dear Mrs Tennyson, for your kindness & friendliness of recollection. It is something to hear a voice like yours help us with a welcome to England. Thank you, thank you.

I held up your note to Robert when he came down to breakfast .. “Think whom this is from! Mrs Tennyson” .. and we both were gratified together.

We are in England for at least two months perhaps– One of our first English pleasures was to hear good news of you, as one of the next was to receive kind words from you.

No, of course we would not go down to Twickenham & find you .. incomplete .. without Mr Tennyson. There is plenty of time .. heaps of summer days to choose out of .. & upon some one of them, I do hope we may all meet happily.
