Dearest Mary,

In the extremity of my stupidity yesterday I forgot a standing engagement to Trippy’s which we have for thursday. Can you come to me on friday instead? Miss Haworth has promised for that day. I came into my right mind & remembrance before leaving her. But if friday wont do for you, choose saturday, for I really desire to see you. My love to Mrs Minto–
