My dear Miss Mulock,

So vexed I am at having been prevented going to call on you! I am afraid of asking whether you have thought very ill of me for this omission.

Prove at least that you pardon me, by coming here tomorrow evening .. monday. There is no party .. & when I say “evening”, I mean eight oclock or earlier– Can you come? Will you?
