Dear Ba,

At the time I received your last letters I was so unceasingly occupied,—I indeed have been so ever since—that I could not give them the consideration they deserve. I have an Amanuensis in the house, who is copying what I have got together as preparatory to the MS. I sent you: he is copying, not from a continued MS; but from detached sheets here & there, with additions made lately & sometimes while he is copying: he is a lad of 16, intelligent enough, but inclined to be idle & careless so that I am forced to be constantly watching him & correcting his mistakes. I shall not be able to consider properly your remarks & criticisms till I have the MS; & therefore will beg you to send it me by the coach early next week, & likewise, if you have kept them, my two letters on the Charter-house pronunciation. Do you happen to know with any certainty whether Dr Russell was the first who made use of, & introduced it.
