As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 19, 246.

Bagni di Lucca, Toscana, Italia.

Aug. 24. ’53.

My dear Sir,

I should be glad to have the account, & to know how you get on with the new Edition– [1] There seems a strange delay in bringing it <out:> people write to us about it &c. When it does app<ear,> may I trouble you to send two copies to Wimpole St. (to “Geo. Barrett Esq” & to “Miss Barrett.”) Also a copy together with Casa Guidi, my poems, & Christmas Eve to Reuben Browning Esq. Messrs. Rothschild’s, New Court, St Swithin’s Lane—for [“]Mrs Hedley, Rue d’Astorg 12, Faubourg St Honoré, Paris.” [2] Will you finally have the goodness to put the enclosed letter into the post-box. I shall hope to hear from you before I leave this place.

We are quite well, & enjoy the fine weather more than you do, I fear. I was happy to hear of Forster’s return to health, [3] but must write myself to him. Lever is at La Spezzia.

Ever yours faithfully,

R Browning.
