What a day for the Carnival! our Valerano [2] party is put off till the 4th of next month[.] I do hope the sun will shine & you will be well and able to go with us[.]

1. Date suggested by Fanny Kemble’s references to the “Carnival” and to the “Valerano party” being put off until 4 March, a Saturday. In letter 3349, EBB writes of an “excursion into the Roman neighbourhood” planned for “next saturday.”
2. Sic, for Vallerano, a small village in the Campagna, about 7 miles S. of Rome.
