My dear Mrs Kemble

I am none the worse, but all the better for the memories of yesterday—a little tired but that is just a proof of the pleasure.

Do you remember really that I was so “patient” of your kindness & of the beautiful nature everywhere? Well, that sort of patience is just the sort of virtue I am worthy to be inscribed for in the Book of martyrs. [2]
