3342. EBB to Sara Augusta Page
As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 20, 112.
[Rome]
[ca. 18 February 1854] [1]
My dear Mrs Page, send away Penini if you have’nt room for him, I beseech you. Mrs Hooper [2] & others have asked for him but as you said first you would be kind enough to have him, I send him to you– Only, mind you turn him back in the case of his being troublesome.
I do not dare to go out—and Robert does not care, it seems.
Affectionately yours
EB Browning.
Publication: None traced.
Manuscript: Peter B. Sweeny.
1. Dating based on the supposition that EBB is writing at the beginning of Carnival time, which could explain her concern over the Pages’ apartment having enough “room” for Pen.
