330.5. EBB to Eliza Peyton
Addendum to The Brownings’ Correspondence, vol. 2.
[Hope End]
Monday night– [ca. 1829] [1]
My dear Mrs Peyton,
The weather seems so very precarious, that we are tempted to calculate on the probability of your not going to Cheltenham, in order to make a request. Will you allow Miss Peyton to give us pleasure by dining here tomorrow to meet the Miss Biddulphs who have promised to do so? We dine at five.
With our united love to Mrs Griffith & all of you, believe me
My dear Mrs Peyton
Ever yours very truly
E B Barrett
We hope that none of you caught cold in consequence of your great kindness in waiting so long at church. Mrs Griffith’s receipt is returned with my aunt’s best thanks.
Address, on integral page: Mrs Peyton / Barton Court.
Publication: None traced.
Manuscript: Armstrong Browning Library.
1. The stationery bears a watermark date of 1827. EBB generally used stationery within two or three years of the watermark date.
