1. During the Brownings’ stay in Rome, 1853–54, the only two Mondays falling on the 27th occurred in February and March 1854. The later date seems the likelier for EBB to venture out. In letter 3361 she spoke of a “severe six weeks” of cold weather that began in the last week of January.
