My dear Mrs Powers,

I return you the books, which have given all the pleasure to Penini your kindness can have desired for him & me,—& I do hope you will find them uninjured– He has read them himself, & had them read to him again & again,—his particular favorite being ‘The pretty Village’. [2] Now if you have another book or two of the same kind, you will do us a great favour by lending them—as you offered– Will you?
