Tuesday– [25 September 1855] [1]

Dear Mr Ros[s]etti,

My husband tells me that you are going to give us an evening very kindly, & bring certain things to show us, of which he speaks with great admiration– He was under the impression that we were pre-engaged for tomorrow evening—but as this is a mistake, I write by his desire to beg you to come to us then,—(wednesday)—will you? Do come early .. at eight oclock, or sooner still—and bring what you can, to delight us.

Very truly yours

Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

Publication: None traced.

Manuscript: Huntington Library.

1. Dated by EBB’s invitation. Rossetti visited the Brownings, in the company of his brother, on the evenings of 26 and 27 September 1855, a Wednesday and Thursday.
