My dear Mrs Powers

I returned yesterday the books you were so kind as to lend us, but I omitted to ask you to lend us some more as you promised once– Will you? My Penini has been delighted with several of the books & has read them all, & will be very glad to have others.

I was sorry not to be able to see you when you called– I have been shut up from everybody & quite unwell. Now, however, I am much better, thank God, & revived by the milder weather. With affectionate wishes to all of you,

1. Conjectured date suggested by EBB’s remarks about her health and the mild weather (recurring topics in earlier letters of February 1855) and by her request for more books for Pen. In the first paragraph of letter 3525, EBB writes of “the loan of a heap of excellent books from Mrs. Powers.”
