Mr Bayard Taylor cannot dine here on Friday—but he will breakfast here at ten o’Clock on Friday morning. Pray come & meet him. [2]

2. Bayard Taylor recounts this breakfast in a letter of 4 August 1856 (see SD1954). In that same letter, he describes a brief call he made on the Brownings when RB quoted from “Bedouin Song,” a poem in Taylor’s Poems of the Orient (Boston, 1855). A copy of this work, inscribed by the author, “To Robert Browning … New York, Nov. 1854,” sold as part of lot 1138 in Browning Collections (see Reconstruction, A2252).
