My dear Browning:

Will Mrs Browning permit you for once to be a little Baccalaurean? I have asked Mr Bayard Taylor [2] (the American writer) to dine here at ¼ before 7 on Friday next—& if he cannot come then to breakfast here, at ten, on Friday morning. None [sic] one else is coming. I have told him (my lure!) that I would try to get you to meet him.–

What do you say? I have always thought Luria to be the model of heroism—but if you will come, I will set you up in his place.
