Dearest Ba—there is no one in the world of whom I think so much—so often as of you—& your dear little letter has been in my pocket for this week past—& I have not yet thanked you for it!– I have not been well—a lame knee—a blister on it—work pressing me—backwards & forwards from town to Ealing.– & you!—you have more upon you than you can meet– How I wish myself with you words cannot express—it is sometimes a sort of longing which comes over me—but there is no such happiness for me at present– When I came home to England I found my Sister (Mrs Sherwin) full of one idea—namely, that if she could open a house at Brighton—in which she could receive young Ladies (or old ones) who went down for change of air—for a week—(or two)—or a month—& to whom a Chaperon—or care would be necessary, she could make it answer—& my sisters feel—with reason that as I am the only resource, if any thing happen to me—what is to become of them?—so I have yielded to their wishes—& all the money I can spare, for the present, I have given to Camilla for her speculation—it promises well– I have limitted [sic] the sum [1] —because I will not trifle with those means, which must supply the daily requirements of all– I must not risk our home—now dearest Ba—you know why I can not go to Paris just at present—in the mean[time] I am working as hard as possible, that I may have hope & freedom after these next four months are over—then we shall meet—& your poem will be finished– I have a thousand things to tell you but I must wait till I get back to Ealing for a few days of quiet—this is not a letter—only a scratch—to say that I love you (but that you know) & think of you (& that you know too!)—in about a week you will receive another missive–
