My dear Madam,

At length I have the pleasure of offering to your acceptance the second volume of my work, such as it is. When you have perused it, I shall be glad to have your remarks, favourable or unfavourable: I am for truth and justice even against myself. I am afraid that you will find several typographical errours, perhaps errours of a worse description. I send 4 circulars, which you must have the goodness to give to your friends, where you can give with effect, whispering soft notes of praise. I remain, my dear Madam,
