My dearest Nelly
I shall be delighted to see you on thursday, though I have waited to say so & to thank you for your dear kind words of welcome, for which I can only give you back in change the assurance that they were very pleasant. I am overpowered by work—and morphine has failed me– A London chemist [2] made up the prescription wrong & I was wretched till a last appeal to Bell (quite astonished to hear I was not dead!) reinstated me in this sublunary world. Give my true love to dear Mr Jago whom I am coming to see (tell him) & to the precious Consuelo’s. Also Robert’s– We will talk on thursday.
