My dear Locker,
Here is a poor instalment of the promised autographs: [1] we were suddenly called away, into the country, & on returning were overwhelmed with work. I will keep my promise one day or other, depend on it– Meantime take with my excuses, my wife’s kindest regard to Lady Charlotte & yourself. We leave England in an hour—for Italy—so you see the haste!
