Dear Chapman,

We return to Florence to-morrow [1] —but, having a place in an envelope to spare, I will say that I wrote to you a few days ago,—& that, since then, I have drawn on you for £20—payable next Second of November. My drafts have been therefore.

leaving you still accountable to me for £38. minus three-pence (—to which amount I shall overdraw, in consideration to the Italian clerks’ brains—unless you please rather to consider it as handsome interest for the two months’ waiting)[.] I shall draw for this when I get to Florence, at a month’s date.
