I find I am free to go with you tomorrow rather than tuesday—& therefore, if you should be still of the same kind mind, I shall be ready tomorrow at any hour you may please, to call for me—& we will talk over the interesting papers you left with me the other day–

1. Conjecturally dated based on EBB’s reference in letter 4192 to an unsuccessful attempt at automatic writing with Mrs. Tappan.

2. Caroline Tappan (née Sturgis, 1819–88), daughter of William F. Sturgis (1782–1863), of Boston, and his wife, Elizabeth (née Davis, 1789–1864), was a close friend of Margaret Fuller. She married William Aspinwall Tappan (1819–1905), of Brookline, Mass., on 12 December 1847. The Brownings had known Mrs. Tappan’s elder sister Anne Hooper in Rome (see letter 3395, note 2).
