And why is that precious Sophie not up– Why is she “down,” who ought to be singing on the highest bough of the tree? Ah, I wish she had come. It might have been better. Now I can only write a word, & say a God bless you, instead of looking &—saying it together. Are guardian angels ever sad for themselves? I wonder if they are.
But you must send me my Peni today without dinner. I am afraid of the evening air for him, & shall send for him therefore by four– Also by that time he will have made noise enough—yes, indeed.
I am thinking of you– ‘Rainy eyes’– Why rainy eyes? Dear, I shall turn it all uneasily over till I see you, loving you all the time.
