4286. EBB to Sophia Eckley
As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 25, 296–297.
[Rome]
[?December 1858] [1]
I will write just one word, though people are here—Mr Page, & Mr Bracken [2] —but I must, must say that I kissed your dear note, my Sophie, out of revenge for the kiss I missed. May God bless you, dear dear. It is well to have to feel that you are better than anybody.
Your loving & grateful
Ba.
Publication: None traced.
Manuscript: Berg Collection.
1. Conjectural date suggested by EBB’s reference to William Bracken, who was in Rome until the second week of March 1859, and by her frequent references to the Brownings’ many visitors during the month of December 1859.
