Ah, dearest dear Sophie, how am I to thank you for your naughtiness in being too good to me? This was too much for you to give– There’s excess dear, & extremity—and the beautiful cameo was meant to grow on your own marble throat–
But I accept it out of your hand & for the love’s sake between us, at once—& (though I would rather it were a flower) for that love’s sake with joy. I can accept with joy (because with love) from you–
But something has happened to vex me. Christian morals are difficult. You will come today, wont you, & we will talk, and you shall advise me with that fine tact of yours–
As to all the goodness to my Pen, I like to be grateful to you– I leave Robert to speak for himself to dear Mr Eckley–
