Dearest Sophie,

Foolish person that I am, & inconsiderate!– I have given away without a thought the chosen black mosaic with roses– The price was marked either 9 or 6—but I believe 9– Robert considered it better suited to the occasion– And besides that, I want for another gift the violet brooch which is very pretty indeed– Your card said the price was ten scudi—but I send it back to you as you desire–

Dear, I wont say a word about all this trouble I give you—not a word—only thank them–
