My dear Mrs Crawford I am very glad to accede to any request of yours, & only wish that this could have cost me a little more, so as to prove it better to you–

That we should not have met during these months at Rome has been my loss .. not my fault, I beg you to understand—for if naturally you have had no heart for visiting, I have had scarcely any power .. having been shut up in my usual fashion during the cold weather & then weakened out of the habit of going up & down stairs– I have asked much about you, & shall always have an interest in what relates to you.
