4439. RB to Kate Field
As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 26, 210.
[Florence]
[?late June 1859] [1]
Dear Miss Field– The Box is “24, 2o ordine”– [2] I shall go, but, I much fear, nobody else—(always excepting Isa!)
Ever yours faithfully,
R Browning.
Publication: None traced.
Manuscript: Armstrong Browning Library.
1. Conjectural dating based on RB’s addressing Kate Field as “Miss Field,” suggesting an early stage in the Brownings’ acquaintance with her, and on his reference to a box at a theatre. The Brownings returned to Florence 30 May 1859, where Kate Field had recently taken up residence with Isa Blagden. EBB refers to theatre attendance in several letters of the period.
2. “Row.”
