Dear Chapman, Here’s the Preface: [2] if you will engage to have it most carefully printed, we will trust to you, and require no proofs—as the sending and returning these would delay publication for another fortnight or more, and your best way is to get the book out at once: but you must please be very painstaking, for we are nervous in such matters: your printing is always intelligent, however, & we don’t run much risk.
